Garbage collection is low paying unless backed by a union. Harvesting food is low paying unless a union is behind the pickers. Housekeeping is poorly paid. Food preparation is low paid. Serving food is low paid in most places.
Seafarers, nurses, caregivers and domestic helpers, also Chefs can be found on resorts, cruise liners and in hospitals and military camps in the Canadian East & West Coast.
Finding a “real” job is a full time job. If you have a part time job to make some money, cool. If you take one full time, you can end up putting in too much time and effort and before you know it, you’re a “Starbucks Employee” instead of a “Systems Analyst”.
Is menial work bad? No. I’m saying it’s great. It won’t put food on your table (or it might in your case) but it’s a job, it gives you experience. And you know what the best thing is? If something opens up you can always move on.
Recruiters these days aggressively research their candidates. LinkedIn is a place where they find serious candidates, and so you want to keep yuor profile as current as possible. Plus, frequently updating your profile increases its appeal and visibility.
