With North America increasingly offering incentives and encouragement to people to set up businesses in all the region, self-employment opportunities in Canada have never been more attractive. Foreign nationals are entitled to move to Canada and set up or buy a business, or engage in freelance work, without any prior authorisation. Such businesses may take practically any form including consultancies, freelance language teaching, art courses, bookselling, bed and breakfast, farming or running bars.
MicroSkill Centre in Ontario is another good source of support and information.
Practical information and advice to help individuals to transfer or set up business in another country within Canada is also provided by the Ministry of Finance, Commerce and Commission – Business Advice.
